What are common questions about UET Taxila hostels?
- How many hostels does UET Taxila have?
- The 2025 prospectus names 10 halls of residence: Allama Iqbal, Quaid-e-Azam, Abu Bakar, Umer, Usman, Ali, Jabir Bin Hayyan, Muhammad, Ayesha, Fatima. Accommodation is limited and the rooms are allotted on the basis of academic merit, so the university asks students to confirm the current allotment notice on its hostels page before applying.
- How much are UET Taxila hostel charges per semester?
- For the first semester a hostel resident pays Rs. 24,000 in hostel charges (room rent, services, electricity, and gas) plus refundable hostel security of Rs. 8,000 and refundable mess security of Rs. 8,000. The admissions FAQ puts first-semester hostel dues at roughly Rs. 36,000 - 40,000. See Table 30.1 of the 2025 prospectus for the full schedule.
- Is hostel accommodation guaranteed for all UET Taxila students?
- No. The official rules say limited hostel accommodation is available at campus for male students and that rooms are allotted on the basis of academic merit. A casual student, or one involved in misconduct, indiscipline, violation of rules or political and objectionable activities, is ineligible, and a short-attendance allotment is cancelled.
- Which UET Taxila hostel is for first-year students?
- No hall is reserved for freshers. The published order of preference is final year, third year, second year, first year, so final-year students are considered first, and Umer and Usman halls are the apartments that house international students.
- Can I get a hostel if I live in Rawalpindi or Islamabad?
- Only if vacancies remain. The allotment rule states that students residing within the limits of Taxila, Wah Cantt., Rawalpindi and Islamabad shall not be provided hostel accommodation, unless vacancies are available after accommodating students from outside the above limits.
- How much does the UET Taxila hostel mess cost per day?
- The university publishes no per-day mess rate. It states that messes run six hours a day and serve standard food on a non-profit basis, approved by the Punjab Food Authority, while Table 30.1 charges a refundable mess security of Rs. 8,000.
